I have been using the beta for a few weeks now and wanted to throw a couple
of comments to the group about problems I haven't seen mentioned yet. Mostly
these are irritations, I have been pleasantly pleased with the stability for a
beta.
First, I have a Intellimouse with a wheel. Sometimes imwheel works, sometimes
it doesn't appear to. I have ZAxisMapping 4 5, and the protocol correct.
About 3-4 times per day, the mouse will freeze up and jump to the upper right
hand corner of the screen. Only restarting X will get it back.
My cdrom burner is an IDE on the secondary controller slave position. It
appears to have been detected during install but the ide-scsi module is not
being loaded. I fixed this by adding modprobe ide-scsi to the rc.local file
but I shouldn't of had to do that.
I hope that you stay current with the helix gnome folks! This is the best
gnome Mandrake has yet offered. It is far more stable than what was included
in 7.0. However, when I tried using the helix install from their site to
"upgrade" the packages it made quite a mess :-)
I installed Corel Office today and was pleasantly surprised with the lack of
problems. It appears to be working fine with 7.1.
