------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-03-11 18:36 ------- The vpi and vci-numbers are not really a problem. As far as I know the scripts waren't filled in correctley. This experience is of versions prior to 9.0 and as far as I could check(printer-ptoblem during install) also in 9.0(but not sure of this). All the files are there, but some weren't filled in nicely. These include /etc/networking-scripts/drakconnect.* . The interface-type was missing and also the user-password I think,... Because it wasn't filled in correctly, everytime I rebooted the old files(in /etc/ppp,...) reappeared. If it is a real problem I don't know, but I also changed /etc/ppp/options and /etc/ppp/peers/adsl like described in the previuous report(Changing these 2 files let me connect to the internet, but liked I said they changed back at reboot to the original because /etc/networking-scripts/dakcoonect.default and drakconnect.* weren'tfilled in completely to my experience). I've wriiten down a (maybe hard to read, so not so good) tutorial on www.mandrakeusers.org/index.php with tips and tricks. It contains more than normally needed after a normal mandrake-install, but certainly the last steps have to be done. These experiences are mostley of versions prior to 9.0(->printer, but when I wanted to use the wizard of internet ,... after the install of Mandrake it just created a file in /etc/.../networking-scripts/drakconnect.... . Can this be. The tutorial on the forum are the things I did myself after the install of 9.0. Hope you can make some sense out of this. Michel ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. ------- Reminder: ------- assigned_to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] status: RESOLVED creation_date: description: This is also some MAndrake9.0 experience, because may installation stopped with the printer... During installation the rpm? for the speedtouch is installed correctley, but the files in /etc/network-scripts and /etc/ppp werent filled in correctley. In network-scripts: drakconnect.default and the second with it drakconnect.??? were missing some thing like interface....(ppp0 with me). In /etc/ppp/peers/adsl th elocation of pppoa3 was wrong(or it mentioned pppo2), but I'm not sure of this. For the scriupts it is alos better to use the script of the officvial speedtocu-website for /etc./options I think and the script of the Frenchman's website(Bnoit?developped generic driver for speedtouch) for the /etc/ppp/peers/adsl-file(contains debug, kdebug1,...), but I'm not an expert in this...I don't know if the vpi and vci-values are filled in automatically, but this can be done...There is a list on the official webiste(in FAQS) with a list of countries and their vpi, vci... The install of the speedtouch is not a complete automatic install to my experience, although the extra steps are not so much work(after some research).
