Product: gqcam
Component: gqcam
Summary: Colors Swapped when using Logitech QuickCam Express USB
Version: 0.9-4mdk
Platform: PC
OS/Version: All
Status: RESOLVED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
AssignedTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
My Logitech QuickCam Express USB webcam (the one using the HDCS1020 sensor,
using the mod_quickcam driver) works OK on Mandrake 9.0 with xawtv, producing
images with correct colors, but on the same system, gqcam produces images
where a bright orange object is displayed as bright blue. The image controls
do not correct this. It looks like the colors are being switched inside gqcam
when it talks to the mod_quickcam driver. I can assist in debugging this, as I
am a decent coder...

I've dug through the gqcam code and come up with the following interesting
information and a workaround:
1. There's a "swap_colors" option in the code; when I run "gqcam -s", the colors
are swapped on the display to what they should be. Hooray!
2. When I exit and rerun gqcam, the colors STAY where they belong on the next
run with OR without the "-s" option, UNLESS I have run xawtv in the meantime; in
that event, I must specify "-s" again or I get wrong colors again.
This appears to be both less and more of a bug than I first believed. It's easy
to correct (though with NO documentation, it can be hard to discover the cure),
abut there's some strange persistent interaction, probably with the mod_quickcam
driver. I'll look further...

gqcam doesn't come with man page. Send a wish list to gqcam ml/developers.
Thanx for the bug report and workaround.
