  Gnus does it, but it either lets you configure it or chose on the
  spot (when replying to your message it asked me if I wanted to strip
  the old subject, and I said yes in this case). Doing it without
  asking or without a way to configure it would be annoying as hell,
  as I don't always think it's appropriate to strip the old subject.
