description:
I have an Intel 845PEBT2 motherboard (ICH4 based) with onboard sound card. I can
get the oss kernel driver to work (although only one output channel, not 3) but
the input control is very confused. Using gnoise, which uses the /dev/dsp device
for input and output, and with sound fed into the line input with the linein
selected in aumix, I find that to control the output from the lineout of the
soundcard, the linein control will do it, but that does not effect amplitude of
the sound fed to /dev/dsp. Instead the igain slider affects that. If instead the
igian input is selected in aumix, the igain slider affects the lineout output to
my headphones, but not the output to /dev/dsp. That is affected by the linein
slider. Ie, the slider control of the input seems to be confused.
