hmm, this is not quite the behaviour I am getting.

I beleive the problem is that the Bottom panel initially loads to 0,0, then 
the menu panel which should be at 0,0 loads immediately below that, the Bottom 
 panel then moves to it's correct place, and leaves menu panel sitting the 
width of the bottom panel away from 0,0
