one time i tried such a thing. i don't remember exactly, but i opened,
say, the file /dev/ttya3 to catch the things on /dev/tty3 [i suppose it
is NOT tty"a" ; i don't know the correct one]

but i had problems. the remote guy [a friend] noticed that, because not
all his keys appeared on his screen.

it needs more work obviously. :-)

needless to say that you need to be root :-).
