I have experienced the same problem in 9.0 and 9.1RC2 and have the same
chip (Sis 305/300). There appears to be some problem switching modes in
the install script. The install works OK as long as the video mode does not
enter the testing. The X display seems to hang after being reset to VGA mode,
instead of the black and white dot pattern, it's light red and white, and
the system hangs. A ctrl-alt-backspace or ctrl-alt-del has no effect, though
I don't know if it is supposed to.

The start and stop of the x server seems to work OK after installation is
complete using startx and the ctrl-alt-backspace-- the problem only occurs
in the installation program. It might be more reliable to turn off the graphic
mode before switching to vga mode in the install script after testing the
video mode.

Hi! I hava an AMD Athlon PC, with an Acer 34T SVGA monitor and a Sis305 graphic
card, which worked fine with Mandrake 8.2, but since Mandrake 9.0 and the 9.1
RC1 version I can't get it runing OK.

The configuration tool freezes every time I try to confirm the settings (where
it asks if I see the dialog box) and it doesn't come back to the configuration
tool as it was in another versions.

I tried diferent configurations: resolutions, monitors other SiS drivers, but
nothing seems to work...What can I do?
