I've read thru Rage3D forum and found that I have to edit /etc/X11/XF86Config-4
and do this to enable 3D support for Radeons:

1. Add
Load "dri"
under
Section "Module"

2. Add
Section "DRI"
Mode 0666
EndSection

3. Restart XFree86

And it looks like 3D is working now :). I think this entries should be added by
Mandrake X setup utility during setup.

Using Mandrake 9.1 RC2 with ATI Radeon 8500 on Abit KT7A-RAID motherboard. After
installing I noticed that hardware 3D accelaration thru DRI is not enabled. I
tried runing some OpenGL apps and they are runing very slow.
