The instruction (looks like tdxi://something) requires to enter two backslash characters. You CANNOT do this on a French keyboard at the firmware level (no backslash character available). A way round is to split the OS partition in two and put a small one at the beginning of the HD, a large a the end, but it is very hard to guess.
