There are a number of pretty serious bug still, and I would hate to see
Mandrake 9.1 ship as cooker currently is. Some of them are trivial to
fix, but really create a bad impression (since bugs that are so easy to
fix you really have no excuse for fixing). Others are probably more
technical, but really affect usability for anyone who has more than one
computer (specifically large companies).

Easy to fix, low risk bugs
==========================
1)Bad menu file, prevents using
in super user mode in anything besides KDE:
http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2981
(also has a fix for bug 240 which is starting konqueror with a bad view
profile from the same menu entry in KDE)

2)pstopdf options for .ps files broken. This looks really
unprofessional, and I have added a fixed entry for this in the bugzilla
entry:
http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=3196

More difficult, but important bugs:
===================================
1)kprinter crashing (taking app with it) with users in ldap (can someone
test NIS or winbind, it may be any users not in /etc/passwd):
http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=3349

2)kio_smb not working. Note that it works reasonably well in 9.0/KDE3.0,
much better in Knoppix/KDE3.0, almost totally useless in 9.0/KDE3.1 and
current cooker:
http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2107

3)Using detailed view in (default) double-click mode in Konqueror
behaves as if in single-click mode

Warly, is it to late to have at lest the easy-to-fix bugs fixed?

Note, from personal experience, updates provided have virtually no
improvement in people's perception of a distro, specifically in the case
where they don't have the bandwidth to do updates at the end of the install.

I am still answering questions about supermount on 9.0 in local LUG
lists, even though the kernel update fixes it ... (I actually answered
one this morning).

So, I would really suggest getting at least some of the visible but
trivial-to-fix bugs fixed.

If other cookers have similar bugs (all mine seem to be KDE-specific
;-)), please add them to the list, but try and keep it neat. Remove my 6
paragraphs of waffle, and don't quote the bug summaries. Also, please
don't add anything that would require changes to installer/kernel/X as
they are even less likely to be fixed.

Regards,
Buchan
