Summary| multiple network profiles |multiple network profiles in
|in 9.1rc3 |9.1rc3
------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-03-17 17:26 -------
Actually, there ARE multiple profiles, but they are not handled correctly.
If you go to /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts you will see a file called
drakconnect_conf.default. I guess thi is used to tell drakconnect that there is a
network profile called "default".
Now, touch a file, say "drakconnect_conf.alternative": if you start drakconnect,
you'll have the program asking what profile you wish to configure: "default" or
"alternative".
So it seems as multiple profiles are still working, but this is not true.
In fact, if you edit any profile, all other profiles get overwritten, so if you have N
profiles you have always N copies of the same profile.
Moreover, drakconf wouldn't let you choose which one profile you wish to use.
You rather have to start the assistant, select which one profile you whish to use
and go through the configuration profile (as I stated above, changing a profile
changes _any_ profile).
This is absolutely a must fix!!
Muliple network profiles are very important for laptop users.

Greetings,
I am running 9.1rc updated to the latest cooker release.
MCC > drakconnect used to allow you to configure multiple network profiles.
It seems that option has gone away. I am sorry to see it go, it was great
for laptops that plugged into multiple networks.
Does anyone know why this was done, and could it be un-done?
