Don't know if it's supposed to be this way, but when I was having trouble with installing from an old CD-ROM drive and wanted to disable DMA on that IDE channel, ide0=nodma had no effect, but ide=nodma worked. Maybe nodma can only be applied across the board to all IDE channels. You could try it.
