I have been following the 2.5 developments recently. Unfortunately,
although there are some very interesting and significant performance
improvements, my impression (based on experiences of using the latest
2.5 releases) is that there is still much work to do in terms of
stabilising the build system and getting many of the device drivers
working properly (and on a variety of different motherboards).

I can say though that much of the development focus has swithed from 2.4
to 2.5 very recently. I expect it might take until 2.5.67 for something
to be useable by the majority.
