edit the file "/usr/lib/menu/kmp3" and add the "kde_mimetype" definition
from it to the file "/usr/lib/menu/xmms".

IMHO the default app will be the last one processed by kde if there is no
"defaultapp" entry in /usr/share/mimetypes/audio/x-mp3 ; so will default
to xmms. if not, try to remove "defaultapp" from the mimetype.
