I'm confused then. First you say it only works when you set it to use a static IP, then you say your connection is dynamic IP. These two are mutually exclusive ... but if you're getting a zeroconf IP, that means DHCP isn't working. You could of course just have unchecked "dhcp/bootp/zeroconf" in the network setup ...
