My money is on the fact that his IDE chipset is brand spanking new and as such is not recognized as being UDMA capable, so it treats it as an old IDE interface (ie 2 MB/s transfer rate). Too many choices is something that is addressed in the 9.1 Standard Edition. No server packages are avaialble (except for postfix), no nfs, no innd, no proftp, no samba, no apache, etc. The amount of choices are cut down too. I think this particular product is a step in the right direction. Blue skies...
