Try some others, which may work better, and don't have these issues. I
prefer cdbakeoven (contrib)

OK, but there is an error message telling you that.

Menu entry, as k3b has an entry to run k3bsetup as root.

Anyway, IMHO, all the CD-writing apps that need setup are broken, since I
can do this directly after installation:

$ cdrecord -scanbus

I have found that k3bsetup (and the new setup tool in cdbakeoven 2.0beta)
usually stuff settings up (by changing permissions on devices, which then
get backed up by devfs into /lib/dev-state, whereas they work fine for all
users managed by pam_console, changing permissions on binaries such as
mkisofs and then forcing the user to change group memberships etc).

Unfrotunately it seems more tools seem to want to do this, and don't do
the right checks before making changes they think are right. I haven't
updated cdbakeoven in contrib (I have a working package here) due to this
introducing usability problems. The cdbakeoven author has not responded to
my mail though, so I may investigate patching cdbakeoven2.0 ...

Buchan
