Product: Installation Component: i18n Summary: acroread segfaults in utf8 locale Version: 1.809 Platform: PC OS/Version: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 AssignedTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Note: this bug is about Adobe Acrobat reader package for ML 9.1(which is
included in commercial apps disk or as download for club members) - but there is
no such product in Bugzilla, so I filing this under Installation. Please move as
appropriate.
When using a utf8 locale (in my case: en_US.utf8) and running Adobe Acrobat, you
get the error message
acroreadunknown encoding"UTF8". Using iso8859-1 instead
and then acroread segfaults.
Of course, the proper way to fix it would be to have acroread recognize utf8 encoding - but let Adobe do this. As a temporary measure, the following works:
LC_ALL=en_US; acroread
So we could just add "LC_ALL=en_US" (or whatever the locale is - stripping utf8) to the wrapper script /opt/Acrobat5/bin/acroread
