This is all fine, but i am not sure we have anyone here who is really
familiar with LDAP. If you want to gently point us in a right direction,
just shoot.
My personal knowledge of LDAP unfortunately stops at "this is some
kind of database which can be used for all kind of weird stuff, ranging
from authentication database to sharing e-mail addressbooks." I suppose
many other people here know more, but I am not avare of any LDAP-gurus
here. .-)

:~>Hi.
:~>
:~>I would like Mandrake to make the distributions LDAP enabled, thus making all
:~>programs that can user LDAP. This comes in especially handy when Mandrake is to
:~>be used in a corporate environment where lots of machines all over should
:~>authenticate the same users, mount their homedirectory, etc.
:~>
:~>In practical terms this means:
:~>-Install slapd with SSL by default.
:~>-Install PAM_LDAP and NSS_LDAP with SSL connection lo LDAP backend.
:~>-Automatic mounting of homedir if it isn't on the local machine.
:~>
:~>This requires tools for editing information within an LDAP server, and that all
:~>the normal /etc flat files are moved to LDAP
