------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-06-06 15:23 -------
In fact the timezone names are just the raw file names and directories
from /usr/share/zoneinfo/

They could maybe be translated (I put DrakX people in cc).

Entries with numbers should not be translated (there is no point in translating
things like "GMT+2".
Also, in order to keep things simple, the list of names and translations should
be kept on a separate gettext domain (so we avoid DrakX translators being mad
because of yet another plentyful of translatable entries, there are 500 names;
maybe countrie names coulb be moved to that extra po too). I propose calling it
"mdk-place-names.po"
There is a KDE po with a lot of those names already translated, so we can take
them from there.

The ntp_servers list could also have the country names translated (trough the
same "mdk-place-names" domain).

The "mdk-place-names" could also be used by other tools using place names
in lists (like first time wizzard, rpmdrake (list of mirrors), etc).

Instead of "mdk-place-names" we could use again the "gtk+mdk" domain, already
used for some mdk specific translatable strings.
The total number of translatable strings would be around 650. (400 for timezones
(continents and city names) and 250 for countries and regions)

In the past we already received requests to have country names centraliced in a
signle po file (currently they are duplicated in both DrakX and first time
wizard (and they used to be also on mdkonline); so we would be able to answer to
that request at the same time too.
