Since there was previously a thread pertaining to this subject I thought I would give my experience from yesterday.
It was a clean 9.1 install, but I did not do a minimal install.
I immediately deleted the cd media and added cooker media and then using
urpmi --auto-select --allow-nodeps updated the system.
9.1 to cooker
The following packages have to be removed for others to be upgraded:
autoconf2.5-2.57-3mdk (due to conflicts with autoconf2.5)

To satisfy dependencies, the following packages are going to be
installed (1529 MB):

librpmio-4.0.4.so is needed by gnorpm-0.96-13mdk
libpthread.so is needed by libgcj3-devel-3.2.3-1mdk

I removed libgcj3-devel-3.2.3-1mdk ran auto-select again and allowed the
other depend errors to be waived.
So in other words I had no problem with the upgrade.
