Wouldn't a rpm --root install not be better. Install 7.1 on one partition and 
cooker with tar xvfz rpm-4.2.tar.gz; ./configure;make;make install; rpm 
--initdb --root /mnt/cooker; rpm --root /mnt/cooker basesystem..rpm etc.
