Ran across this one today... I'm in the process of testing it and so far so good. (Only one box at the moment.) This program is originally written for the 2.5 kernel but has been back ported to 2.4. Given the difficulties supermount has had I was wondering if this might make it easier for the kernel team at MDK.
http://submount.sourceforge.net/ Note that it was apparently originally written for/on MDK so he already has rpms to support the OS available. Method of use seems to be the same as with supermount (in ref to fstab) and as I said so far no problems found with my cd/dvd rom drive. James
