Joan, maybe you aren't aware, but a lot of Compaq laptops require acpi for
correct functioning, and many of them have problems with current acpi in
the linux kernel.

So, people looking to enable acpi on Compaq's should rather search for
compaq-specific sites, preferably one matching the same model number,
rather than asking on cooker ...
