FWIW, questions like the above are easily answered with urpmf, as in urpmf libcups.so urpmf is urpmFind. By default, it looks in the file list, but with switches you can match various other things as well, such as --description. urpmf does not require root, as it simply queries the hdlist urpmi database. Here's the output of the above (or really uf, a shorter symlink I created). Note that it lists the package followed by the matching file incl. path. x#2 02:39 AM 0bg ~ $ uf libcups.so libcups1:/usr/lib/libcups.so.2 libcups1-devel:/usr/lib/libcups.so cups-debug:/usr/lib/debug/usr/lib/libcups.so.2.debug x#2 02:40 AM 0bg ~ $ rpmq libcups1 libcups1-1.1.19-1mdk x#2 02:47 AM 0bg ~ $ Note that this contradicts Stefan, who said it was in libcups1. Here it's listed in libcups1-devel. However, note that I have release 1mdk (non-fraction), while he has release 0.9mdk. Someone appears to have already changed it. Sure enough, from the top of the changelog: * Tue May 27 2003 Till Kamppeter <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 1.1.19-1mdk - Updated to finally released CUPS 1.1.19 (SECURITY FIX: Denial of service attack vulnerability, see http://www.cups.org/str.php?L75 and other bug fixes and updates). - Moved libcups.so to "-devel" package to avoide dependency of "libcups1" on other "-devel" packages. - Rebuild to get a "-debug" package. * Tue May 13 2003 Till Kamppeter <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 1.1.19-0.9mdk -- Duncan - List replies preferred.
