-Tt is only to test the speed. Not to search for defective tracks. bonnie++ is far a more accurate measurement of the different speeds. hdparm is also used to modify some settings. To run hdparm, the drive must be mounted. While running for example reiserfsck the drive must be unmounted. All tests of the surface need an unmounted disk. TestDisk http://www.cgsecurity.org/index.html?testdisk.html seems to be what I need.
