Try to paste a longer text containing special chars like german umlauts into a
java application running with jdk 1.4, the java application always is getting a
null stream. Try the sample applet from the following site
http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/releases/data/
the same code works fine with a Redhat 8.0 and a Suse 8.0. I tried it with
different installations of a Mandrake (9.0 free, 8.2 (7 disc version, don't
know the name, 8.2 free and Redhat 8.0 (Redhat works fine)) with KDE 3.0.2 and
KDE 3.0.4. I also posted a bug to sun, but they told me, they tested it with a
Redhat 7.3 with KDE 3.0 and with a Suse 8.0 with KDE 2.2.x and couldn't
reproduce it). So I only got this behaviour on a Mandrake (8.2 and 9.0) so far.
If I open the failed webpage into an editor (e.g. kate), I am able to paste the
text...
