Hello,
I found out a little bug while using rpm ...
Sometimes when you cancel a rpm query (for example: rpm -qa | grep -i kde)
by hitting control-c, rpm will hang next time a user makes an rpm query.
In fact, rpm creates 2 temporary files for every query (files are named
/var/lib/rpm/__db.001 and /var/lib/rpm/__db.002) that are deleted after use.
Hitting control-c before a query ends has the effect that these files aren't dropped,
with the effect that the content of these files could be (sometimes) corrupted.
I don't know why, but it seems that rpm doesn't "recreate" these files, but simply
reuses them, and it can lead that rpm hangs while re-reading these (corrupted) files
(I
found that out using strace) for next queries.
The only solution is then to drop these files by hand (rm /var/lib/rpm/__db.00*) when
rpm hangs :-(
