I don't think it is. Ethereal seems to work satisfactorily with Cooker.

The latest ethereal hangs after I choose Capture->Start (start capturing)
Capture->Stop. The process is hung (or in a loop or something) tight enough
that the UI does not even refresh.
When capturing, the column widths of all but the rightmost column shrink down to
the width of one or so characters and are not resizable.
