I've been using the latest 7.1b with alsa sound for the VIA686A on-board audio nicely. The problem I encounter is that the volume constantly resets to zero. I've saved the levels with alsactl save and then restored them in my rc.local file with alsactl restore. This works until DPMS kicks in (which I have enabled under kde). When my screen powers up again the sound settings have reset to zero volume for everything again. Con.
