Hi,
I would like to make some comments, or better, formulate some
personal wishes for a future Mandrake Distro (as once asked by
Guillaume):
INSTALLING PROCESS:
It would be nice to have the following features:
o the possibility to save a configuration after having
selected all the packages one wishes to install
and, vice versa, the possibility to load an own
configuration from a floppy to make a duplicate/iterated
installation easier
(German HeulSuSE for example has these features with "YaST")
o when upgrading the system it would be nice to know
which packages are outdated and to have the possibility
to chose which newer packages to install
EMACS/TEX
o this mainly is to Chmouel: why Auc-TeX is not included by
default into (x)emacs?
it is a very small package (964k is the whole bunch of files
in /usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/auctex/ where lots can be
droped out & one line "(require 'tex-site)" in ~/.emacs),
but is makes it much easier to use (x)emacs for (La)TeX
'think I am not the only (La)TeX user who appreciates these
goodies
XFONTS/TEX
o it would be nice to have Hebrew X-fonts by default (there are
not too much of them)
o the same would apply to Hebrew TeX-fonts (also a not too big package)
But anyway, I like Mandrake more than any other distribution (great work)
and I understand that a lot of people have lots of wishes.
