Product: Installation
Component: hardware
Summary: CDROM mounted as SCSI even when CDRW present
Product: Installation
Version: 1.810
Platform: PC
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: hardware
AssignedTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
If I have a CDRW, it is installed by Mandrake as a SCSI device. However if in
the same machine I have a CDROM, it is installed as an IDE device. But
cdrecord w'ont support IDE-to-SCSI CD copying, so I always have to add the
hdc=ide-scsi in Lilo and change fstab to automount the drive as SCSI.
K3B will list CDRW as the only source and target possible, which is something
the normal user will not understand. Evenmore, he/she will probably never
change the config files as I stated earlier.
I though that if during installation of Lilo I added the hdc=ide-scsi, the
autodetect process would correctly set HDC as SCSI, but that didn't the trick.
I thought that automatically or as an ADVANCED option one should be able to
change how the CDROM is mounted.
