What secret oaths did UW violate? ;o)

i.e.

* OK [CAPABILITY IMAP4REV1 LOGIN-REFERRALS AUTH=PLAIN AUTH=LOGIN] imap.example.com
IMAP4rev1 2001.315 at Wed, 30 Jul 2003 11:35:47 +0200 (CEST)
1 login bluca nonteladico
1 OK [CAPABILITY IMAP4REV1 IDLE NAMESPACE MAILBOX-REFERRALS SCAN SORT
THREAD=REFERENCES THREAD=ORDEREDSUBJECT MULTIAPPEND] User bluca authenticated
2 select /etc/passwd
* 1 EXISTS
* 1 RECENT
* OK [UIDVALIDITY 1058462327] UID validity status
* OK [UIDNEXT 2] Predicted next UID
* NO [UIDNOTSTICKY] Non-permanent unique identifiers: /etc/passwd
* FLAGS (\Answered \Flagged \Deleted \Draft \Seen)
* OK [PERMANENTFLAGS ()] Permanent flags
* OK [UNSEEN 1] first unseen message in /etc/passwd
2 OK [READ-ONLY] SELECT completed

besides that the author makes it very difficult to customize even
simple behaviour of the thing. the only documentation for the
configuration file states you should not use it.

tends to suck on big mailboxes and allocate tons of memory
if the mailbox is too big it will refuse to expunge deleted messages,
thus requiring administrator to clean the damn thing manually.

oh, yes it defaults to ~ as mailbox location :(

and have you ever read that code?

regards,
L.
