Reference bug 305 and 814

Situation: home directories are nfs mounted - kde desktop has no known issues but
gnome desktop fails and gnome apps launched in kde complain - shorewall is used on
the server - rpc.statd fails to start

Ran "rpc.statd -F" with the following from /var/log/messages:
Apr 14 10:00:47 cr109684-a rpc.statd: Flags: No-Daemon
Apr 14 10:00:47 cr109684-a rpc.statd[23304]: Version 1.0.1 Starting
Apr 14 10:00:47 cr109684-a rpc.statd[23304]: Cannot access current directory after
dropping privs: access()

Running from /etc/init.d/nfslock I got a slightly different error:
rpc.statd[23121]: opendir (sm): Permission denied

Permissions and ownership from /var/lib/nfs/statd down:
drwx------    4 rpcuser  rpcuser       120 Apr 14 08:26 /var/lib/nfs/statd/
drwx------    2 nobody   nogroup        48 Nov 24 00:33 sm/
drwx------    2 nobody   nogroup        48 Nov 10 21:36 sm.bak/
-rw-------    1 rpcuser  rpcuser         4 Apr 14 09:42 state

I changed sm* ownerships to rpcuser:rpcuser with no change and root:root with no
change. I changed sm* ownership to 777 and statd ran.

I don't know if this fixes the gnome nfs file lock issues.
