Not at all--the *.img files are the install images for various options.  To 
use hd.img, you would dd to a floppy and use it after booting the install 
floppy if you wanted to install from a hard disk.  And I think I recall Pixel 
did one for a single person who had Reiserfs on his hard disk and wanted to 
do a hard disk install, but kept it off the main site, because the code for 
using Reiserfs took as much room as the code for all the other filesystems 
combined.

So it is natural to expect changes in these images only when there is a 
substantial change in the method of installing from a network, a hard disk, 
ftp, etc.
