$ gimp-remote -n -f

gives:
$ gimp-remote -n -f
gimp-remote version 1.2.5

Tells a running Gimp to open a (local or remote) image file.

Usage: gimp-remote [options] [FILE|URI]...

Valid options are:
  -h --help       Output this help.
  -v --version    Output version info.
  -n --new Start gimp if no active gimp window was found.
  -f --force Force startup, even if no file in given.

Example:  gimp-remote http://www.gimp.org/icons/frontpage-small.gif
     or:  gimp-remote localfile.png

Seems like -f option (I think Fred Crozat added this initially) is not working.

$ gimp-remote -n $FILE
works (both in case of already running gimp, and no running gimp). So, it's -f
flag that is broken (should open a gimp window even if no file was given).

using gimp-1.2.5-3mdk

The command used in menu is "gimp-remote -n -f" which sould work according
"man gimp-remote".

If you launch Gimp from command line ("gimp"), it starts (but fonts are not
AA...)
