You don't need to do that to disable ACPI. Simply add acpi=off to the append= line in lilo.conf. Easy. I have the same ACPI experience, forgot to mention it - freezes just after "loading 2.6.blah" if ACPI is enabled. Sony Vaio C1XD - boots 2.4 fine with ACPI enabled. -- adamw
