        OS/Version: All

          Severity: normal

DrakConnect and ADSL Configuration

"use pppoatm" is not an option available in DrakConnect/ADSL configuration or an
configuration option in the initial Mandrake install

pppoatm is a plugin for ppp and included with the latest 9.2b2 release as
ppp-pppoatm-2.4.1-11mdk.i586.rpm on CD 3. pppoatm is used for internal PCI ADSL
modems and other devices.

"use pppoe" (ppp-pppoe-2.4.1-11mdk.i586.rpm) and other ADSL configurations are
supported in DrakConnect, and it would be great if pppoatm also would be an option.

In order to setup pppoatm for ADSL the following manual installation
instructions are included which might help with automating the process. Seeing
as I have never used the drakconnect sucessfully this is what I would assume its
function is :)

/etc/resolv.conf (add the nameservers here for your isp or ones which you know
work)

/etc/ppp/options

/etc/ppp/pap-secrets and also /etc/ppp/chap-secrets (these need to contain your
username and password, make sure to do it for both files, it should be CHAP -
Challenge Authentication Protocol but always pays to setup both files).

--- /etc/ppp/chap-secrets and /etc/ppp/pap-secrets
[EMAIL PROTECTED] * password

^ in that format.

----------------- start of /etc/ppp/options

lock
defaultroute
noipdefault
noauth
passive
asyncmap 0
lcp-echo-interval 2
lcp-echo-failure 7
name [EMAIL PROTECTED] < edit accordingly to your [EMAIL PROTECTED] info
user [EMAIL PROTECTED] < edit accordingly to your [EMAIL PROTECTED] info
plugin /usr/lib/pppd/plugins/pppoatm.so
0.38

---------------------------------- end of /etc/ppp/options

The above is for a single connection, perhaps most of the options file should be
in a peers i.e. /etc/ppp/peers/adsl or something.

The first bugzilla report did not go through, so please excuse if this appears
twice.
