I ran into a different problem with the boot loader installation. This
occured during an upgrade from 9.1 to 9.2 beta2.

First, even though I use GRUB, the installer always seems to default
to LILO (this can be changed on the summary screen).

I then got an error message saying that installation of the boot loader
install had failed because there were more than 28 entries in lilo.conf.
The only button on the error dialog was "OK" which caused it to try
again and fail again in the same way, in an endless loop. I eventually
ended up aborting the install and rebooting the system in rescue mode
to fix the boot loader config.

An option to edit the existing lilo.conf and delete some of the old entries
would be useful here.
