Was able to resolve this problem by altering the kernel arguements in my
lilo.conf so that the option that read "acpi=off" now reads "acpi=force". This
is with an asus p4c800 motherboard, i875p chipset, default Bios settings,
2.4.21-6mdksmp

When installing the kernel in a PIV with HT it doesen't simulates two
processores. I'm using a MSI 875P with GLan on board (wich, by the way, isn't
detected at startup)
