description:
After a fresh install of 9.1, my sound works fine, but appeared to be broken.
This turns out to be because the volumes are all set to zero. Please set the
default volumes higher. May I also suggest that alsamixergui should be included
in packages by default, since aumix doesn't list all the channels of the soundcard.

There's more information at the URL above. It's also necessary to do an alsactl
restore in rc.local
