this is really BAD idea.

most of the ATA/RAID controllers even do not support ATAPI,
they are ment for additional storage ie only for hard drives
and name a CD or DVD that supports ATA133,
the best shot are the new DVD-burners with ATA66,
most of the CD/DVD drives are at max ATA33
and a big number of controllers doesn't play nice with ATA33

may be you should just swap your drives

Just installed 9.2beta2, detects the drives on the ATA133 controller as
hda/hdb/hdc/hdd, and then the standard controller as hde/hdf/hdg/hgh.

In Mandrake 9.0 they were detected the other way round (as they are in other
distributions i've tried) didn't do a beta test of 9.1 so got caught with the
problem of needing the extra bootdisks which detected it the same as 9.2beta2.
