NUMLINES=`grep -v /etc/modprobe.conf '^#' | \
grep -v /etc/modprobe.conf '^$' | \
wc -l`
if [ "$NUMLINES" -le 2 ]; then
regenerate_modprobe_conf()
fi
fi
The number returned by wc -l could be something that you feel is
comfortable. This may not be the approach you want to take though. You
may just want to always add the lines to modprobe.conf and then run it
through sort and remove duplicate lines.
