That would be exactly my worry. The patch makes for a prettier dialog, but I
don't know necessarily how much *better* it would be in terms of actual
usability. That tradeoff -- especially for something that could break things
at this point, so close to RC status -- would make me hesitate.

That wouldn't be so bad (though, it'd be hackgtk+2.2, no?). An easy way for
people to install it but still avoid stability worries in the main release.

Here's the biggest thing: having waited this long, can we really not wait
until Mdk-next (9.3 or 10)? GTK+2.4 will be out soon, which will contain the
new file selector. GNOME 2.6/3.0 will use GTK+2.4, and I'd expect it to be
ready for the next Mdk release.

This 9.2 release of Mdk is a massive cleanup/stabilization release. The
people behind GNOME 2.4 seem to have the same intentions for it. Given all
that, any reason to just throw something in right now?
