Hi,

I was thinking about since some times, now I think it's very important :

There is no more the possibility to go back in install steps !

I mean : I was often using the 1st MdK CD to make hardisk partitions on a machine (even if it was for a windows station), so I was going on the install till the Disk Partition step, create/format/whatever, then click on "End of the Install" step at bottom, and "cleanly" end the install process. My coworkers was impressed by the boot sequence, the "look easy" of the install process, and of course the time to format a partition !

Since 9.0 I can't do that, well, I can reboot with ctrl-alt-backspace but it's a bit more violent.

I know that other liveCD are doing the trik now, but it was also a way to promote and make discover Mandrake GNU/Linux.

Now the fact which push me to send this mail :

A french paper-magazine "Micro Hebdo" which is (very) mainly done for windows/computing newbies have done an article on Mandrake for his number 277 (with _Mdk website_ on a screen and a Tux in front of the magazine).

Well, it's more that an article, it's a "special dossier", the "summer dossier" titled "Try Linux ! Installation and first step of a different operating system"

It seems it was the first contact with GNU/Linux for the writer, this dossier have very good points for us, and some bad points mainly because he have not try enough, or doesn't have ask on Mandrake forums ;-)

One of the bad point is that the install process doesn't have always a "back" button, and that in case of doubt press ctrl-alt-backspace and start again from begining.

So what do you think to make (may be only some) "links" the install steps writen in left side, like in 8.x, to start again or end the installation process, may be with a warning message ?

Bye,
Fabien
