Sorry for my implications. I'm learning new things all the time and
cooker will definitely turn up bad parts faster than windows. For
instance never ever get a gateway computer the ones that have built in
video are not very friendly with linux.
Finally thanks Pixel (again, not sure how many times). It was due to a
bad cdrom. I didn't even know how bad it was. Because it seemed to be
working fine but when i put in the new cdrom Mandrake 7.1 installed just
fine accept for one thing.
Just found out this gateway has a rage 128 chipset and uses gart drives.
Dose mandrake support this? When I got to the xserver install it bombed
out right after i selected yes for xserver 4.0. That is the installation
dumped the xserver and shut down the system.
