Try again updating and check it still works, do you have used symlink in /var/cache/urpmi or /var/lib/urpmi to perform some tasks ?
Well, I've update many many times, with always same result : For update_source for example : the all file is downloaded (4731K if I remember), then "rcupration effectue" (so it seems OK), it's only after that that it said it couldn't write the file list.
I never done symlinks or other special things in these directories. (the only thing is going in /var/cache/urpmi/rpms/ to install rpm which have given problems)
What I've done _for only update-source_ so that I've still the problem for other sources : -Deleted files which contains "update-source" in /var/lib/urpmi/ -Try urpmi.update but it said that it couldn't find the file and it doesn't work -Go in Software Source Manager in MCC (it's description is still in english btw), then edit "update_source", don't change anything but click on "save", so it seems to generate needed files, then update the source right.
Now there's no more problem in updating this source, strange thing is that the regenerated files seems to have same permissions than files I let in /var/lib/urpmi
Any idea about the cause ?
It doesn't look so ;o)
Anyway if "edit then save" (without editing anything) in Software Media Manager is solving this problem, may be an option/button like "Regenerate sources" or something similar could be great : that way the current sources are still there, but it do the action which happens when "click edit/click save" for all the (non-local) sources.
You see, a sort of "in case of problems click here"
2nd thing :
Well, I've reproduce the problem I was saying before in this thread : that is I find symlinks (in red so bad symlinks) in the directory I was (/home/fabien/)
Let's do it :
Open MCC, go to Software Media Manager, click on "update", I choose a source added via "easy urpmi" on PLF. It seems to have problem (I've check the path, seems good, anyway the problem is not here) :
fabien]# ls *.cz
hdlist.contrib-pl.cz@ synthesis.hdlist.contrib-pl.cz@
fabien]# mcc
fabien]# ls *.cz
hdlist.contrib-pl.cz@ synthesis.hdlist.contrib-pl.cz@
hdlist.main-pl.cz@ synthesis.hdlist.main-pl.cz@
You see, even if I've a problem in source path, this should not happens.
The fact that Software Media Manager (or urpmi behind) write symlinks in *current* directory is not good, cause if I'm in a user directory (which is mainly the case when I launch Eterm then "su"), the user will say "Hey, what's that strange files !"
If you need more info tell me.
Remember also that Software Media Manager is still writen in english in MCC, his description too.
Bye
