Maybe, but, fact is that an user who used KDE and who want to try GNOME will 
see these icons. This problem didn't exist in previous distributions and should 
not exist in this distribution. Users don't have to undergo "wars" between 
developers. Since KDE uses ~/Desktop/ since always, it is to GNOME to manage 
this etablished fact if it also want to use ~/Desktop/. 
 
Perhaps KDE and GNOME projects will find a method to solve this issue in the 
future. But at present time we have a problem which need to be fixed.

When you have launched KDE and GNOME, you can see a "Home.desktop" file and a 
"Trash" directory. They come from KDE desktop and they shouldn't be displayed 
on GNOME desktop.
