AFAIK, kpackage is not intended to be used this way.

Use rpmdrake or urpmi, ie:

# urpmi.update -a
# urpmi --auto-select

Please see http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/twiki/bin/view/Main/CookerHowTo for more
info on how to run cooker.

If you want a GUI, rpmdrake may be able to do this too (but it's much easier to
run urpmi from cron when you sleep and read the logs later).

I think this bug is invalid, but I am not sure, so I won't set it as so yet ...

description:
After pulling down all of the latest cooker packages, I opened kpackage in order
to see what was new and to then install them, however kpackage isnt "seeing" any
of the updated packages - by this I mean if I click on any of the "Update" "New"
or "All" tabs, the recently downloaded files aren't there with the "U" beside
them.

I've tried clearing out the two caches, I've even copied all the rpms to a
different directory and reconfigured kpackage with the new directory, all to no
avail.

An example of whats happening:

After synching with my local cooker mirror, kpackage is showing the following
two packages as being updated: gftp and suspend-scripts.

However, if I get a list of all installed rpms and compare that to a list of all
the .rpm files I've got on disk, the result looks something like this:

RPM INSTALLED FILE ON DISK

i586.rpm

Please note this is only a small sample - I have many more rpms installed that
have newer versions on disk but kpackage isnt picking them up.
